Background
During the 2017-2018 academic year, the Clare Boothe Luce Program awarded GW’s School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) a $300,000 Clare Boothe Luce Program Undergraduate Research grant to enable undergraduate SEAS students to: pursue research with guidance from faculty mentors, hone their professional skills, and establish themselves as university leaders.
Four sophomore students were selected in spring 2018 for 2018-2019—the first cohort of the program—and an additional four students will be selected in 2019.
Scholarship information
Each Clare Boothe Luce Program scholarship totals $37,250 over a period of two years and covers academic year and summer stipends, and money for research materials, supplies, and travel to a professional conference.
The program is open to SEAS students, who must apply during their sophomore year. Applicants must propose a research project that has been signed off on by a GW faculty mentor in their application. Scholars start their research immediately after spring semester of their sophomore year and continue through spring of their senior year.
